Samsung Galaxy Tab

The Samsung Galaxy Tab is the company's attempt to enter the tablet market. It took a long time to get the product to market but it is now widely regarded as being the strongest competitor to the iPad. That being said it does suffer from the same limitations as the iPad being the first generation of tablets to come to market.

The first thing that you will notice about the Samsung Galaxy is just how small it is. Compared to the iPad it looks tiny. In reality it looks like a smaller version of the iPad although this probably has more to do with the limited number of design options that you have for a tablet, after all the front of the thing is really just a screen. Obviously given the smaller size of the Galaxy Tab it has a smaller screen than the iPad. While this is certainly a negative for some uses it does also leave you with a device that is a lot easier to use with one hand, not to mention to carry it around.

The Galaxy Tab is one of several tablets to hit the market in recent years that runs the Android operating system; it is by far the best. Admittedly that is not saying a whole lot as the other ones tend to be a pretty weak lot. The Galaxy Tab however has the processing power to actually compete with the iPad in terms of performance. Most people given a choice would prefer the Android operating system if for no other reason than that it supports flash, an important feature if you are going to be watching video.

Another feature on the Samsung Galaxy Tab that really stands out is the camera, or actually two cameras since there is one facing each way. The quality of the pictures that they produce is very good, much better than the iPad. The quality of the screen is also very good which makes the Galaxy Tab a good option for watching video which is something that Samsung have clearly taken advantage of by creating a video store that allows users to download videos.

Overall we would have to say that the Samsung Galaxy Tab is the strongest competitor for the iPad. It is well designed and it is easy to use. In a lot of ways the Galaxy Tab is just a larger version of the smart phone, the operating system is actually the same one that appears on Samsungs smart phones. That being said the same is true of the iPad, both are in an intermediate category right now. Clearly there is room for improvement and over time the Galaxy Tab will certainly become more refined. For now however it does have plenty of room for improvement, of course the same thing can be said of all tablets.
